A vacant medical center will soon be home to a small state-of-the-art hospital that will serve the growing Mid-Cities area.
St. Camillus hospital plans to open in mid-July in the former Victory Medical Center building, 1612 Hurst Town Center Drive near the bustling Airport Freeway corridor.
The area is already home to Texas Health H-E-B, which is in the midst of a $25 million expansion of its intensive care unit.
And in Euless, JPS Health Network is building a clinic modeled after its ?medical home? in Arlington.
The JPS clinic will provide primary care, radiology, dental care and a pharmacy.
?We are excited about the upcoming opening of the new St. Camillus Hospital,? Steve Bowden, Hurst?s executive director of economic development, said. ?Residents from Hurst and all around the area will appreciate their expertise and level of service. They have a proven track record of excellence, and their new facility is state of the art.?
St. Camillus – which cost about $20 million to open, including six months of working capital, a representative said – is owned by Physician Synergy Group.
Cindy Slaydon, senior vice president of Physician Synergy and acting administrator of St. Camillus, said the group chose Hurst because of the growing population and the growing need to serve geriatric patients.
